RELIGIOUS AWARDS

A SCOUT IS REVERENT

Information about earning the religious emblem for your faith

A Scout is reverent. He is reverent toward God. He is faithful in his religious duties and respects the convictions of others in matters of custom and religion. When you earn your religious emblem, the badge you wear indicates much more than achievement: it indicates who you are and what you believe. It shows your duty to God.

To encourage members to grow stronger in their faith, religious groups have developed religious emblems programs. The Boy Scouts of America has approved of these programs and allows the emblems to be worn on the official uniform. The various religious groups administer the programs.

A Scout who earns a religious emblem is entitled to wear the youth religious emblem square knot on his uniform. The religious emblem medal may also be worn over the knot for ceremonies and formal occasions. (See the Uniform Inspection Sheet for correct placement.)
